These chips are amazingly cheap, $8.61 qty-100 from DigiKey.
The ST part I am testing:

draws .6mA at 2.5 V and can be set to generate a pulse when a certain acceleration is crossed

the acceleration can either cross high or low for free-fall detection. In the video I have the threshold set at 50 mG, setting any lower didn't seem to work.
I was testing if this chip can be used to wake-up a high current device when a car door opens, it seems like it can.
